Off to Brighton to the GUCH weekend... plus the first week in Ediburgh

Hi All,

Arrived in Edinburgh after a long flight.. with having to deal with two new things. One was a new airport at Bangkok and the other the new terminal at Heathrow.  Lucky I had organised special assistance to get me from Heathrow to Edinburgh flight because without it.. I would have not made the Edinburgh flight because the Bangkok to London flight went around in circles for 15mins and then took 15 mins to get out.. and I had a very quick turn around.. but with the assistance I was able to fly through customs, through everyone else in the line up hehe... and made with mins to spare...just as well as I have a very good friend meeting me to taking me home who I be living with.

My first couple days were just getting used the environment around including getting use to what buses I need to get home and into the city... My friend has been fanastic but I already knew she would be...

The shopping is nette's heaven omg the prices of things were alittle cheaper than at home... eg lego for the kids... so yes the kids are going to be getting lego when I return.. but it be posted home.

At the moment I am writing this on the train to London Kings Cross (no not like our Kings X) and then onto Brighton for the GUCH weekend (GUCH= Grown up Congenital Hearts) What I know it  be 30 of us...I hope someone told Brighton that we are coming hehe..

Tell you what though.. the Country trains or trains going to London from Edinburgh from a standard seat is brilliant, free wi fi, powerpoint, a table and if you want you have food tolley coming to you.. and this is not first class.. I can just imagine what first class is about...

Well I going to see the country site... I am having a ball...

yikes omg I leave tomorrow afternoon

I can't believe it, its been a long time coming and finally it has arrived. Tomorrow I fly out Sydney and head to Edinburgh...

Bags have been packed and the last minutes clean up and checks to make sure the flight is still going and checking my ticket, passport etc.

Just now chatting online with my bestie...which means alot when you wont be seeing each other for  6 weeks however I haven't seen my UK friends for four years so its amazing mix feelings...

Funny really I leaving Sydney in cold and going to UK in the summer..

Well tomorrow be interesting day, with a long flight, hoping who ever sits next to me is nice...

Anyway my last post from Sydney and will write once I get there...

7 days to go

Oh my goodness.. its now only 7 days to do.. actually this time next week I be in a plane heading first the Bangkok (don't worry I have read the smart traveller sites notes) and the airport is open and everything is ok in that aspect.... I would be arriving almost in Bangkok now... then the long flight beings to Scotland.

Today as many would know it is my birthday... I had the wonderful day, with first spending time with my family at Novtel for lunch.. Then I went shopping and brought a lovely dress which I am taking on the trip.. But the wonderful lovely birthday wishes message were lovely touch for the day.

My packing is almost there.....with only a few things to pack..

Have to say in the last week.. Heartkids who I am a member of..... helped me out this week and gave me a donation which cover the cost of the conference in Berlin... Which makes a big difference right now...also some resources which I am taking to the conference.

Well... if I remember the next post be either just before I leave or when I am in Edinburgh.. can't believe it is very very soon.

3 weeks from today to UK/ Berlin

Hi All, can't believe it, it is 3 weeks today. Actually its 3 weeks and I would now be in the air on my way through Bangkok then to Scotland. Can't wait.. but also feeling anxious right now.. because these three weeks are going to fly and even so I am pretty organised, I feel I am missing things hehe... I have 4 days to sort out the last things because the last two weeks I have full time work right up too my night before I fly out..

Gladly all my assessments are done, Just need to hand in 1 on Tuesday and I am free as a bird with uni.

So much looking for my o/s friends..

Those who are there, I arrive in Edinburgh on the  21st June.

sadly it happens

Last week, I got an email from one of my dear heart friends to let me know another heart friend has passed away. As ACHD (Adults Congenital Heart defects/disease) know that life is so special and you make the most of what you have for the time you have.

I have to make note that how much you know life can be challanging, and things going wrong etc.. you always have special people in your life that suddenly taken away, even so you may not have seen them for a while and time difference etc, but deep down you are aware where they are and what they are doing.

My dear heart friend was taken so young, who will be sadly missed at this Berlin Conference. Its now two heart friends who have passed in the last month.

Rest in Peace.. your humor will always be remembered, passion towards CHD be your legacy will live on.

Well the lastest update, today finalised my health insurance, the EuroConference payment and sorted out some of the gifts I am taking with me.

I have now finalised uni subjects for next semester even before they open tutorials. I have brought the next semester textbook which I will give to the disability services so they could put into an electronic format which makes so much easier especially when you are tired to listen to the book then reading it.

Now all I have to organised is my train tickets to Brighton which I am attending the Brighton GUCH weekend and was thrilled to hear that two of the Scottish girls who coming to Berlin are also going to the Brigton weekend.. so it should be a blast !!! Also need to organised my train tickets back from Glasgow to Edinburgh. Other than that.. all  my major transport is finalised.

I am getting excited and although I haven't pack my clothes yet.. I have started packing hehe mostly the Berlin information.

Well thats all today.. I can't believe it is about 4 weeks to go...

Week counting down and alot to do.

As days passes so are the weeks. I can't believe that some days I don't know where they went. I have been spending so much time on sorting out the passport which is now been submitted and after the confusion of the post delivery who decided that I lived in another suburb and give me a card to pick up the passport from there instead of down the road.. I finally got my passport after 20mins mucky around. I submitted medical insurance as GUCH'es( Grown Up Congenital Heart) are aware that medical insurance in general is difficult and has been waiting for the response. Today it was approved. Now just have to go pay the money for it. The flight to Berlin and back as also been done. Plus I also accepted to spend the weekend in Brigton with the GUCH weekend away.. again today this was paid. Still have to sort out the transport from Edinburgh to Brighton. Still have to pay for the Berlin Conference but all the registration forms have been sent and completed. Waiting a letter from my cardiologist now for the medical stuff.

Thats just the trip, I have to deal with uni, work etc.I am still at uni and it is assessment time.. heaps to do Gladly I feel I am on the homerun with another assessment submitted last Tuesday. Yet I have to sort out the uni subjects for the next semester whilst I am overseas. I managed to put in a special waiver form which they accepted that I could be enrolled before the opening and also my tutorial as been given an early entry which is great. Also have to plan the support for uni as well get my books already so I can just slip into uni when I arrived at  5.15am. My class is at 9am.. do you think I will be wake for the class ??? hehe.. Will see.

Well thats all this one.. its all going well together at the moment..
